Employment Centres in Rome: Locations, Services and How to Book
Rome has 20 free public employment centres where you can register as unemployed, access job-search support, training courses and youth programmes. Here's where they are and how to book.
In a nutshell
Centri per l'Impiego (CPI — Italy's public employment centres) are free regional offices run by Lazio Region where you can register as a jobseeker, get help finding work, sign up for funded training and access programmes like Garanzia Giovani (Italy's Youth Guarantee scheme) and GOL (a national active-labour-market programme). The Rome metropolitan area has 20 offices: 8 inside the city of Rome and 12 covering the surrounding province. All services are free — for individuals and for businesses alike.

- DID registration — the Dichiarazione di Immediata Disponibilità al lavoro (declaration of immediate availability for work) — and signing your personalised Service Agreement (Patto di Servizio Personalizzato)
- Career guidance: basic orientation, specialist counselling and skills assessment
- Job matching between candidates and hiring employers
- Traineeships: both vocational and re-entry placements
- Free vocational training through the GOL and Garanzia Giovani programmes
- Disability employment support (collocamento mirato) under L. 68/1999
- Dedicated pathways for women who have experienced domestic violence, ex-offenders, refugees and people under international protection
For businesses, the CPI handles recruitment, traineeships, apprenticeships and advice on available hiring incentives.

How to book an appointment
All consultations require a pre-booked appointment. You have three options:
Online (fastest): go to www.siisl.it or Regione Lazio — Lavoro, log in with SPID (Italy's digital identity for accessing online public services), CIE (Italian electronic ID card) or CNS, choose your CPI, the service you need, a date and time slot. Confirmation arrives by SMS or email.
By phone: call your local CPI directly. Phone lines are generally open Mon–Fri 9:00–13:00, with an additional slot Tue and Thu 14:30–17:00.
By email: write to the CPI's email address with your full name, Codice Fiscale (Italian tax ID — your personal 16-character code used for almost everything), the service you need and your phone number.
For general information, collecting documents or picking up forms, you can walk in without an appointment during morning opening hours (Mon–Fri; exact times vary by office).
Documents to bring to your first appointment
- Valid photo ID
- Codice Fiscale or Tessera Sanitaria (Italian health-insurance card)
- Permesso di soggiorno (residence permit for non-EU citizens) or the postal receipt proving you have applied to renew it
- CV in Europass format (recommended)
- CU (employer tax certificate for the most recent year) or most recent payslip
- Dismissal letter or expired employment contract
- Educational qualifications and certificates
- Disability certificate (if applying for targeted employment support)
Mistakes to avoid
- Never pay anyone to access CPI services. Everything is free. Websites or consultants who charge a fee to "speed up" your registration are not legitimate. Authorised private employment agencies (Agenzie Private per il Lavoro) are also free for jobseekers.
- Don't ignore summons that arrive by SMS or email. They come from @regione.lazio.it addresses and are official communications. Missing an appointment without a valid reason can result in losing your registered-unemployed status.
- Never share your SPID credentials with unofficial intermediaries. Appointments are booked only through official platforms.
Special cases
No Rome address yet? You can register by declaring a domicile instead of a residence. Once you obtain official residency, the system automatically reassigns you to the correct CPI.
Not fluent in Italian? CPI staff are trained for multilingual reception, and cultural mediators are available by appointment — particularly at Roma 4, 6 and 7. Patronati (free union-run offices helping with social-security and immigration paperwork) such as ACLI, INCA and INAS also have mediators for many foreign-language communities.
Waiting for your residence permit to be renewed? You can register at the CPI by showing the postal receipt from your renewal application kit — it's legally equivalent to the permit itself while the renewal is pending.
Refugee or holder of international protection? You are entitled to register even before your final permit is issued, using only the receipt of your application. The CPI offers dedicated pathways that include Italian-language support, recognition of foreign qualifications and targeted job placement.
Want to change your CPI? Update your address or domicile on the SIISL portal and the correct office will be assigned to you automatically.
