Lazio Electronic Health Record (FSE): How to Activate It in 5 Minutes
Your digital archive of test results, prescriptions, and vaccination history is already waiting for you. All you need is SPID or a CIE card to access it. Step-by-step activation guide and consent management.
In a nutshell
The Fascicolo Sanitario Elettronico (FSE) Lazio — Lazio's electronic health record — is your free, region-managed digital medical file. It holds test results, prescriptions, vaccinations, discharge letters, and much more. Since 2020 it is automatically created for every person enrolled in the SSN (Servizio Sanitario Nazionale — Italy's national health service): all you need to do is log in with SPID, CIE, or your Tessera Sanitaria and give your consent. No queues, no fees.

What's inside your record
The FSE Lazio automatically collects all SSN documents that relate to you:
- Test results from lab work, imaging (CT, MRI, ultrasound, X-ray), and specialist consultations
- Electronic prescriptions (drugs and specialist referrals) with their NRE codes
- Hospital discharge letters and A&E (Pronto Soccorso) reports
- Summary health profile from your GP (medico di base): conditions, current treatments, allergies
- Vaccinations — including childhood, flu, and COVID-19
- Co-pay exemptions for income, condition, or disability
- Screening invitation letters (mammography, colorectal, cervical)
- Personal notebook: a section where you can upload your own documents — results from private facilities, blood-pressure readings, and so on
Thanks to the FSE you can download a test result from home without going back to the hospital, show your full medical history to a new specialist in seconds, or check your children's vaccination records for school enrolment.
How to activate it: step by step
On a computer
- Go to fascicolosanitario.regione.lazio.it.
- Click "Accedi al tuo FSE" ("Access your FSE").
- Choose your login method: SPID, CIE, or TS-CNS.
- Complete authentication (OTP via the SPID app, the CieID app for CIE, or a smart-card reader for TS-CNS).
- On first login the portal will ask you to:
- Confirm your personal details
- Enter an email address and mobile number for notifications (e.g., "new test result available")
- Give your consent for the record to be viewed by you and by healthcare professionals
- Give your consent to load historical data
- Done. Your FSE is active and documents will start appearing.
On a smartphone with the SaluteLazio app
Download the SaluteLazio app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). From the app you can log into the FSE with SPID, CIE, or TS-CNS; view results and prescriptions; book appointments through ReCUP Lazio; pay co-pays; and receive push notifications when a new result is ready.
If you don't yet have SPID
SPID is the most convenient way to log in. If you're a foreigner, you'll need a Codice Fiscale (Italian tax ID — your personal 16-character code, used for almost everything), a residence permit, a photo ID, and an Italian mobile number. Alternatively, you can use your CIE or activate the smart-card chip on your TS-CNS card once — at any enabled pharmacy or a CUP ASL desk.
Managing your consents: you're in charge
Any consent you've given can be withdrawn at any time. In the "Consensi" (Consents) section of the portal you can:
- Block access for a specific doctor
- Hide a single document you don't want visible (for example, a sensitive test result)
- Revoke your general viewing consent
Even if you withdraw everything, your data continues to be uploaded by law — but no professional can see it until you re-enable consent.
In the A&E, in a life-threatening emergency, doctors can access a stripped-down "emergency record" even without your explicit consent (art. 12 DL 179/2012).
Accessing records for children and dependants
To access the FSE of a child under 14, log into your own record, go to "Deleghe e Tutele" (Delegations and Guardianship), and enter the child's Codice Fiscale. The system verifies the parental relationship automatically through ANPR (Anagrafe Nazionale — national civil registry database).
For 14–17-year-olds, the minor's own consent is also required. For adults under legal guardianship or supported administration, you need to present the court order to your ASL to have an official delegation set up.
What to do if a result isn't showing up
Publication times vary:
- Public facilities (ASL, public hospitals): 24–72 hours after the result is signed off
- Accredited private facilities: 3–15 days
- Non-accredited private facilities: not loaded automatically — you can add them yourself in the personal notebook
If a result is still missing after 30 days, check the "Pratiche in lavorazione" (items in progress) section, then contact the facility that ran the test. If the problem persists, open a support ticket through the portal or call the toll-free number 803 333 (ReCUP Lazio — free from landlines and mobiles, Mon–Fri 07:30–19:30, Sat 07:30–13:00).
Mistakes to avoid
- The FSE does not expire. If you receive an SMS or email saying "your health record is about to expire, click here to renew it" — that's a phishing attempt. Do not click.
- Never share your SPID credentials, CIE PIN, or any login details with anyone. Not with call centres, not with people claiming to be ASL staff, not with "IT technicians". You log in yourself, only on the official portal.
- Don't share screenshots of your test results on social media: they contain sensitive health data protected under GDPR (art. 9).
Special cases
You're moving to Lazio from another Italian region. Documents in your old regional FSE remain accessible via the national portal fascicolosanitario.gov.it. New documents will be added to the Lazio FSE going forward.
You've just arrived as a foreigner. As soon as you get your Codice Fiscale and register with the SSN at your local ASL, the FSE is created automatically. To access it, you'll need to have obtained a SPID identity.
You want to share a test result with a private specialist. Log into your FSE, go to the Results section, download the PDF, and send it by email. Some FSE portals also let you generate a temporary share link the doctor can open.
You want to delete your FSE. This is not possible: by law, health data must be retained. You can, however, revoke all consents (so no professional can see anything) and hide individual documents you'd rather keep private.
